Pet Damage - Ammonia Smell

Hi All, I am considering flipping a house that has extensive pet damage. Dogs and cats urinated all over the carpets and the house now has a very strong ammonia smell. I've never dealt with this issue. Is it as simple as ripping out the carpet and subfloor and painting? Or does the drywall have to go? Thank Neil
