House hacking in Oakland

Drew Feldman
Posted

Hi all,

Just bought a 2bedroom in Adam’s point and looking to house hack.

My goal is to find a tenant to pay for their own room and a portion of the utilities.

Any recommendations on how to best get started? -Was thinking it may be worthwhile to ask my network if they know of anyone searching but also considering hiring an agency to vet applicants and perform their background checks. Will also need a basic lease.

Thanks!

-Drew

@Drew Feldman Congrats on the purchase!

Finding a qualified tenant is very important- especially if they will be living in the same house as you. To make the applicant qualification process a bit easier I would recommend setting up a tenant screening criteria.

BP actually has listed tenant screening company's in the Landlord Resources Tab. Some of these companies offer a lot helpful resources for landlords as well.

Best of luck to you!
