House Hacking Duplex - Allowed to Lock Centralized Thermostat?
I am looking to house hack a house in South East Michigan and it is a boiler system with one thermostat located on the 1st floor within the lower unit. There is no way to control the upper unit (which I will be house hacking). I WILL BE PAYING THE HEATING BILL. Is it acceptable for me to install a lockable thermostat in the bottom unit to ensure it is not being abused by the lower unit?
