San Diego flooding

Hi , what do you think what happen to insurance after San Diego flooding on Jan 22 ?
how much is the damage so far ?

This type of flooding is not covered with standard home insurance.   I have coverage that would cover this only on one property and it is 100’ from the beach.   This flood insurance is not cheap

This implies that the insurance companies will not have a large outlay.  Therefore, I expect this event will not impact the insurance prices.

Unfortunately it will affect many residents that will receive no money from insurance.  The cholla creek and Mt Hope areas are some of the cheaper areas in San Diego largely comprised of renters.  We made a donation to help that someone is doubling.  It will not be enough on its own, but if many people donate and it gets doubled, then it can help at least a little.  

Unfortunately these events seem to happen every month somewhere but, fortunately, most are covered by insurance.
