@Ned Carey good to know. I’ve been doing a lot of research on how to go about converting townhouses into doubles, so I’d love to hear more from you on this topic

Hi all,

I've got a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. My husband and I currently own a home, are looking to purchase a multi-unit property (2-3 units) and owner-occupy one unit for > 1 year. We'd love to use a FHA loan, but aren't sure if we'd qualify.

Our current mortgage (conventional) is under my name only, but we are both on the deed and title.

Would he qualify for an FHA loan on a new property (everything solely in his name) since he is not on the mortgage of our current property, or does his name being the deed and title of our current home exclude him from a future FHA loan?

Thanks so much for any light that can be shed on this!

Alyssa

Hi there!

My name's Alyssa. My husband, Andrew, and I live in Baltimore, MD and are just breaking into this wonderful world of real estate investing. We're homeowners in Baltimore County and are hoping to purchase a second property in the Hampden, Remington, or Charles Village neighborhoods. Our current plan is to find a multi-unit property or convert a single into a multi and owner-occupy while we rent our current house. Looking forward to learning more and chatting with all you Baltimoreans out there!
