Throughout meet-ups I've attended I ask around and see what stopped investors from purchasing their first property, besides money because that is the obvious answer. What stopped you?

I'm sure this has been asked before (I'm still figuring my way around this site) but how has the BiggerPockets community helped you either grow your business or helped you get started in Real Estate?

Hi Jonathan,
Instead of using an actual property management company, have you tries using any online solutions instead? With my properties I find a lot easier to use an online property manager than a traditional property manager or management company. Hope this helps!

@Eric Rodriguez I have not thought of investing in the Hudson Valley. How is the area? I will take a look and see but I’m not familiar with the area so I will have to do some research. I really like to try and stay local. But I have recently been looking into properties out of state to lower my costs. New Jersey is just too expensive.

Hi @Garrett Davis, my first property is only 1 - 1.5 hours away. However, when I’m in NJ my other properties are 1,000 miles away (FL). But I’m down there enough and found a good handyman so my tenants mostly call him for any problems. For your first property I would tend to stay local and as you grow as an investor and become more comfortable the further away your properties can be.

Hello everyone, and happy Friday! I was curious what other rental property owners use for rent collection and property management. I’m looking to move to online that way I don’t have to wait for the mail to receive the rent checks. I heard Cozy was simple to use but saw a few people had proplems with it. If you did I would like hear what the problem was and what online manager other investors use. Thank you and have a good weekend everyone.

@aliboone I had family down there so I would spend a couple months a year in the area. I got bored and starting looking into some properties. With regards to the flight school there is a piper aircraft factory there and a nice little airport as well.

Hello everyone! I recently joined BP after one the investors in one of my properties in NJ mentioned it and I've finally got around to create an account.
I currently own multiple rental properties in the North Jersey area and Vero Beach, FL. My main purpose for joining is as my portfolio grows I want to learn what other investors have gone through and how they dealt with those problems.
Within the next year I'm looking to purchase more single and multifamily properties to buy & hold.
Looking forward to learning and sharing some of my experiences.
