I am biased to SC.  We have so many great markets and a business friendly environment.  
Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Greenville, and Columbia are the major cities but there are plenty of opportunities with cities like Florence, Rock Hill and Orangeburg.

Do you ever come down to check on your projects? 

The Cpa's job is not soley to eliminate taxes.  I pay ours to specifically make sure we pay what we owe and keep us legal.  If there are legal ways to reduce our tax liability then we want to explore those options, but not at the risk of fraud or jail... 

 The "tax loopholes" you mention are not shady or illegal.  they are better characterized as strictly legal and perhaps smartly so. 

we may think of them as loopholes but actually most of them are there by design as to encourage certain behaviors by tax payers.  

This is not good advice...  If a lawyer makes you sign something saying that they don't condone or support your activity then you should NOT do it!  

"Working around" the law is also known as Breaking the law.  

Build your business without shady shortcuts and you will sleep better, last longer and make more money.
