Hello, I am new to Bigger Pockets. Currently, I have been chasing my Florida RE license. Through hard work and sweat, I know real estate will be an excellent fit for me. I am currently an electrician and am from Ohio. Can anyone give me a rundown of decent neighborhoods in the Orlando area, ones to avoid in concerns to renting, and any recommendations PM or forum here of good apartments that my fiance and I can investigate. We are going to be moving down by September. Our apartment budget is $850-$900. Thanks for any leads here, can't wait to head off!

I was browsing through the forums and came across a thread started by a landlord in Portland, Oregon. Long story short, I discovered that Portland requires their Landlords to give tenants a 90 day notice anytime they wanted to make a change the terms on a month to month agreement. That was a bit of shock to me as we are only required to give a 30 day notice here in Cleveland, Ohio. As I read down further to my horror I saw this shocking fact. Anytime a landlord in Portland, Oregon chooses not to renew a tenant's lease they must pay that tenant a $4,500 relocation fee❗❗❗

THAT IS PURE MADNESS☠️☠️☠️

So let's do what we do on Bigger Pockets & open this sucker up. I wanna hear from other landlords out there. What cities in America have the WORST Landlord Tenant policies? Does anyone have any policies they can site that are worse than what the landlord I mentioned above is going through in Portland? Would love to hear from those living in the ultra liberal blue states. Can folks living in California, Maryland or Vermont put those Portland landlords to shame with their crazy landlord tenant policies?

James, cheers from Canton,Ohio. I think they should just stop renting homes all together and see how the state reacts to such dumb bureaucracy. Don't worry though, these things only fail in time. Contradictions pile up and Boom! The only thing saving us from the bureaucracy, is its inefficiency!

I still work.I enjoy working and I probably will never stop. I enjoy building my empire and mentoring my franchise owners.

This is an amazing testimony certainly. I am only 20 and getting into Florida Real Estate via my agents license. I hope to get just ONE property in the next year. Preferably a duplex or so. Nice work!

Keller Williams has some of the best training around and you can go ahead and get started and then transfer. There are multiple brokerages of the same Brands here. I tell a lot of newbies to start out that way for the support you'll receive. Then you can go wherever you wish.

Keep the dream alive and good luck!

 Hey there Courtney!

I went ahead a began classes on REE's website like you recommended. Loving it so far. Learning a lot. I was hoping you could give me some insight into submitting my fingerprints to the DBPR in Florida since I currently live in Ohio. Was this something you did as well? Thanks much.

Thank-you sir. You don't understand how inspiring it is to hear a best wish, from another person. When I express my RE dream and relocation dream to anyone around me, all I receive in return is a bland, negative response. A response that you would hear from a person who has no aspirations, like "Poor Dad". It's great hearing this and good ammunition to keep moving forward, especially from a fellow Ohioan I presume! I still don't know if i want to live on the east coast or the Orlando region. Everyone I talk to hates the Miami area, which is where you are located. Can you give me any advice on this?

Welcome, Anthony -

I would consider reposting the concise question of "Which Real Estate School do you recommend in FL?" In the local Orlando thread. I posted the same question in the local Chicago thread and received tons of helpful information. Good luck with class!

I will certainly give that a shot. I am wondering if the location set in my profile sets which thread it post to or if I can do that manually. I'll change my location to Orlando in my profile and give it a try. Thanks so much!

Not sure why my reply was different on my phone so I'll continue using my PC. Thanks for the timely response Courtney. I must ask, do I need to go to Florida to take their test? Or can I simply fly down, take it, and fly back home until I make my move...? @Courtney Bass

Hello, I am Anthony Bernabei. I currently reside near Canton, Ohio. After putting aside my dream for the past 5 years, I have found myself ready to move on with my life goals and plan. To become a real estate agent. With my work ethic and personal wit, after all said and done, without to much explanation here, I think I could do amazing in this field and I love the grand picture of the profession. Only 20 years old, I hope to make a lot of progress, not only providing my RE agent skills, but as an investor as well. So, what I have concern with- that hopefully someone in the vicinity of the issue can aid me. To you taking the time to read this an assist, Thank-you.

I want to be an agent, and know the foundation requirements to do so. That is, classes, testing, finger printing, etc...

However, I am moving to the Orlando area of Florida and escaping my life here in Ohio, for better I foresee. If you could, recommend me a school in that area that you know is quality and reliable. I am leaving my job as an electrician to do this. I don't want to get stuck here forever in a job I hate. I am willing to do whatever it takes when I arrive to my apartment in Orlando and want to hit the ground running - hard. When i complete my classes and such, whether I work two jobs to make it by when I arrive there, is of no concern to me. I want to put the blood and sweat in - and certainly will.

All-in-all, I am seeking general advice from someone who lives there and can point me in a helpful direction. Perhaps I am over thinking it all, and will gain more knowledge when I get there.

Warmest Blessings,
