@Dana Walker, I think the key in buying storm damaged/water damaged properties is to get in there and get it cleaned up before the mold sets in...just my two cents. With our climate here in Orlando, you can bet on mold setting in quickly.

@Levitt Perez, welcome to BP! You're in the right place. I got out of the Navy in 2013 and went straight into pharmaceutical sales. I worked in Central Florida and Chattanooga, then quit that job, got licensed, and brought myself back to Orlando. I now own 2 SFRs and 1 duplex and I'm closing on my first flip tomorrow. I went through the licensing process online with the Bob Hogue School of Real Estate and I highly recommend it. I think that one is especially good at preparing you for the mathematical portions of the license exam. My recommendation is to use your VA loan to purchase your first house hack in a 2-4 unit situation.

@Kenneth McCeader, welcome to BP! You're in the right place. I own 4 long term hold units myself, but I'm closing on my first flip tomorrow (on the acquisition side). I hope to have it fully rehabbed and listed in March.
