@Dave Skow Thank you. Indeed, they seem very expensive! I have started the pre-approval process.

@Julie Marquez Thank you! They did mention that big cities had their own laws but smaller towns need to follow county laws. Will look up further.

@Michael Baum Thank you for responding again. For Skagit, I'm considering someone closer to North Cascades NP and Okanogan, Winthrop in particular. I couldn't find much info on short term rentals laws for Skagit and there are some airbnbs in Rockport area. Winthrop has several and I saw some articles about imposing stricter laws some years back. Just says stricter, I hadn't gone through all the details yet.
And by Glacier, I meant Mt. Baker/Deming area.

Yes, we are located in Canada and considering BC and WA. I did some basic analysis and occupancy seems pretty good in Whistler village area. I am counting on busy seasons and based on overall occupancy, price of property, feels like a good short term investment. As for occupancy, village area standard occupancy seems like >60% and the rates are higher in peak season. Seems profitable on paper based on numbers BUT wanted to get input from experienced investors in whistler area. :)

@Peter Cudmore Thanks so much for the response. I'm only starting out and researching different areas and thought Whistler would be good for an Airbnb mainly for occupancy. I saw some properties in Blackcomb/Whistler Village area 1B/1B for about $500K and occupancy seems pretty good. More than ROI, I am more interested in finding one that has good occupancy and net income for now.
I had not looked into financing yet, was going to reach out this week. That's good to know, thank you.
And thanks for the tip on fees. Is strata fees same as HOA? the 1B/1B estimate gross shows about $65K/yr including HOA. I had accounted for property taxes but not tourism fees.

Hello, we are new to BC and looking to buy a short term rental in Whistler. My prelim analysis shows good ROI condos in Blackcomb area but wondering if anyone who owns Airbnb/STR in Whistler can comment and provide some insight? Thanks!

Hello. I'm new to short term rentals and looking for advice on best Location for STR. I have been considering Skagit county and Winthrop in Okanogan but been reading that Okanogan STR laws got more strict. Any recommendations on best area for STR? Would Glacier area be better? The prices are considerably high there compared to these two counties. Thanks!
