BP Podcast Episode 378 with Brian Burke goes into depth on this - there is a large chunk specifically on mitigating risk in syndication. I haven’t done any syndication deals either and this episode answered a lot of questions I had. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Hi Jacob! I'd recommend reading David Greene's BRRRR book - it answered a lot of questions for me and gives you tons of actionable steps.

I'm also AD military - I highly recommend looking into using your VA loan benefits for a house-hack type investment!

I'm getting ready for my first BRRRR as well and yes that checks with my research/lenders I've talked to so far. Also make sure they are offering a LTV refi as opposed to LTC if you're trying to get the most money back out.

If you decide to stick with college, check to see if your business school has some type of Real Estate Organization. If not, start one. We had one at Texas Tech and although it wasn't huge, they got many people from local commercial development companies to come talk to us. Some members got started by doing free internships with those companies which later led to 6-figure jobs, all the while learning a ton about real estate.

I'd say it all depends on your timeline and personal risk/reward ratio. For me personally, I'm almost two years out from purchasing my first duplex and would rather invest savings in a low cost S&P 500 ETF than lose to inflation in a traditional savings account. With that said, I will move capital to a more liquid savings account as my deal frequency increases and I am more able to take advantage of market opportunities.

Hello BP community!

I am currently a 2d Lt in the Air Force at pilot training in Mississippi. Over my college years I developed a keen interest in real estate investing, and more importantly the financial freedom it can bring!

I am a "newbie" with no properties yet, but will achieve Scott Trench's first stage of wealth creation ($25k capital) by November 2018. I plan to buy a duplex at my next assignment location (using the VA loan) and combine "house hacking" with the BRRRR method.

I have big goals with an actionable plan -- I am ready to dive in head first. Not many people around me my age are as motivated about financial freedom as I am, so I would love to network as much as possible with all you high achievers out there! I would especially love to talk with those in the military who are on the same path. Please feel free to reach out and I will do the same!
