Hello, I've read a lot about going into a partnership with a friend. This friend is and has always been a business minded fellow. For 2 years we talked, built business plans, and have always tried to find something to do together. Finally, he came to me with an interest of his, his dad does it for a living, and asked me if I wanted to join him. RE investing was his pitch. He doesn't need my money but he asked me to join him anyway because of our past together. With his dad guidance we purchased a "buy and hold" property and will have it rented out once the minor updates are finished. From a partnership perspective what do we need to do. One message that has been consistent is to write everything down. The good, the bad, and the what ifs for everything. Is there other things we should consider / try to solidify the relationship now? Our respect for each other is there but he has more knowledge in REI than I do. I'm here to learn and grow and he is here to help and take on a partner for the long hull. Are there any big wins that can help this relationship now ? Thanks much, Kyle

@Rodney Kuhl what a coincidence! Originally from Fort Wayne, but Dan is from Indianapolis; his dad knows the market well. Do you have any properties in MN?

Its off of English Avenue. LP was 47, and we got it for 38ish.

Thanks Mike D'Arrigo and Ken Cooper ! I've been listening to the pod casts and really like it. My commute is about 45 minutes so if I do Speed 1.5 and skip through the intro I get one done a day. Appreciate the welcome!

Hello all. My friend brought me here a few months ago as he recently started getting into real estate investing. My name is Kyle and I'm originally from IN but have lived in MN for 4 years now. I'm a process systems analyst for a Fortune 500 company and my background is in nerdy stuff. I excel at IT but have no experience with real estate. BUT I'm getting in it! I'm partnering with someone on our first rental property. Closing an contracts still pending but I'm excited. His dad has been doing it his whole life and is able to help us and guide us along this journey. We just bought a SFH in Indianapolis for 38k with his dad's guidance. I'm excited to learn and grow our portfolio and I'm excited to join such and active community. I'll read, research and ask dumb questions but with everyone's help I'm hoping to make this a big part of my life.
