Good morning everyone! So I am wondering, how often everyone has a scammer to deal with?

Here's my story..... its been fun. My husband and I just finished getting one of our rentals turned so we can put it on the market. My daughter took amazing photos and blurred the address on the front of the house. And I made a Facebook post. The response has been amazing. But I got a notification about a comment on the post in the market place. It is a scammer. They left a phone number to call for immediate move in and claimed to be the landlord. I commented that they were frauds and please don't fall for it. Then..... me being who I am, decided to text the phone number and talk to them as if I am an interested renter. It is a Google number that someone is using on a computer. Has this happened to anyone else on here? How did you deal with it?

Anyway messing with the scammer has been fun, but it has also gotten me very concerned. My husband told me about a scam that people are doing, like pulling public information, forging quit claim deeds, filing them with the county, taking out loans against the property, and the true owner is none the wiser about the events that have transpired. What do you do to protect against this?

@Greg Todrank only takes minutes to file a report. Get the report. You will need every backup you can get.

@Mike Hern thank you for the advice. I do have a lot to bring to the table. I just have to figure out how to prove myself. I'm getting there.

@Grace Wang I would love to go to meet ups. I will probably have better luck creating a meet up in my area though. Out here in southeast Colorado.... I will have to travel to get to ones already set up. I don't mind the travel..... its just finding out when and where. Thank you for the advice.

I am new to RE. I am trying to figure out how to catch the attention of bankers and investors so that they will carve a little time to talk with me. It really boils down to my wording. I am try like He(( to grab attention and let the people in my market know I am real and willing to do what it takes but I want to do it smart and not lose my a$$ in the mean time. It is about education for me. I am going to school to become an appraiser, very beneficial, the more I know...... But How do I get people who have the knowledge I don't to talk to me.

Have you looked into an economic development organization for funding. Lower interest rates and lower down payment. At least that is my experience so far.

I am working toward my Real Estate Appraisers License. It will take about 2 years to reach the max level of licensing. I am already an accountant. So getting this under my belt, will and already is helping me in my investment decisions. If I had the financial ability I would already own more doors. But learning this is giving me a better perspective. I have A LOT more to learn!

I somehow believe that maybe a large number of investors are Real Estate Agents and/or Appraisers. Are there many on here?
