@Jay M. this is a non-sequitur, but do you do any work in RI? Feel free to DM me.

@Mike Lambert as always, thanks for your thorough and insightful response. When you find yourself buying that plane ticket to Italy in the future, give me a ring! ;)

@Riaan Knoetze and others...overall thoughts on the Algarve for a foreigner looking to invest?

Hey BP community - I've been looking to expand and diversify my holdings into other real assets. Namely, into producing farmland/agriculture.  Anyone have experience with cash-flowing ag? What sort of things should a newbie be thinking about? Would love to hear perspectives from people who have gone down this path.

@Jay Graham Late to the game here, but I'd be interested. Am curious if you know of a BP-like community dedicated primarily towards ag/farmland investing?

@Jennifer Stillman - super helpful. Always appreciate having a non-American perspective. Curious what countries in Europe you are looking at? Feel free to DM me if you prefer.

@Maya McCoy Thanks. Will check it out.

@Bill F. - agree. It'd have to be a highly speculative long-term bet. Something I'm not really looking to do in real estate right now...Can get plenty of that in VC/angel investing.

As a matter of fact, I did...in Danvers, MA.

@Don Konipol - yeah, absolutely beautiful. If there was any vision for how the local economy would turn around (apart from this $1 sale strategy) and what its long-term options could look like, it might be worth a second look as a cheap (i.e., <$100k) vacation home. But to everyone's point, I completely agree that there's little chance of generating revenue here in the near term. It doesn't sound like flipping these properties would even be an option given the current state of the towns. Too bad...

@Gaspare U. Yikes, okay good to know. From what I'd read it sounded like the towns were really struggling, which is often a good time to get in, provided that there's a turnaround plan in place - your father's perspective adds an entirely new dimension to it. Not in a place to retire to the La Dolce Vita...so it sounds like its probably not in the cards.
