Hello all!

I work full time as a union carpenter now which has helped me in many different aspects of construction so I am thankful for that but cannot get started in REI soon enough!

When you "took the plunge" into your first deal, specifically rental properties, how much did you start out with? How did your first deal go? Did you underestimate how much you would actually need?

Hello all!

I am in the process of searching for a rental property and am getting my finances in order to be able to make cash offers. I have an IRA account from an old job. I no longer contribute to the account, so it just sits there. There is approximately $40k in the account which is not much nor will it make or break me. I believe I can put the money to better use now and understand I will pay about 20% in fees and taxes. This is not my only retirement vessel as I work a full-time job that I pay Into a pension for. So my question is, aside from the early withdraw fees, what's the downfall to using this money now to invest in my future?

Hello all!

My name is Tom Berridge, I'm a carpenter from South Jersey and looking to buy my first buy and hold this year. I've been reading a lot on here for a while now, and read the book on flipping houses by J. Scott. I still have a lot to learn but believe I have the drive and skills to get me through. I also plan on attending a workshop here in South Jersey next month for new investors to hopefully do some networking. I enjoy reading on this forum and hope to be able to contribute back as I embark on my real estate adventures!
