Hey @Blaine Suque, I couldn't get your listing to come up on AirBNB. I went to 15 pages and didn't see it.
Even drilling down a bit with filters didn't bring it up.
Now there are a TON of listings in Yucca Valley

Just wanted to get some thoughts from others that may be having the same issues. My Yucca Valley STR has been pretty booked since last September when we first listed. We have gained super host status for the 3rd time and do not have any negative reviews. Recently around end of April / early May our bookings have went from about 70% to 0%. It felt like it happened overnight, we even called Airbnb thinking it was a bug or glitch in the system but they stated our listing was in good standing. Giving that spring months like March, April, and May seem to be the high season for the area and we have very little if any business is very strange to me. Has anyone else been experiencing the dramatic drop in business lately?
The same thing happened here in the smokies. April/may the bookings dried up. The summer has gotten off to a slower start as well for most, folks are listing their cabins on mls In droves.
I’m just speculating, but I think early next year if there is a confirmed recession, the data will show it starting in April or may of this year. the str slowdown is happening everywhere all around the same time.

Hey @Blaine Suque, give us some deets on the listing. I will do a search and see if it pops up for me. At least you can see if a person who has never searched for Yucca Valley listings can see it and where it pops.
Also, if you are not on VRBO, you need to get listed there. VRBO has it's own customer base that differs from AirBNB. You are missing out if you are not listed there.
Hi @Michael Baum! yes here the link
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6...
I just listed on Vrbo a couple days ago though i am still figuring out that site. Still have no bookings on either.

Because you are not a Homeowner in this case, you are running a business and need commercial insurance. I use State Farm, but there are also Insurance Companies specific to STRs like Proper and others. Get enough insurance. Perhaps an umbrella policy on top of your commercial policy to cover injury accidents, falls, etc.....
Good Luck!
That makes sense, I will reach out to Proper and see the cost difference.
Thanks Bruce!

Hello BP community!
I am getting closer and closer everyday to finishing my STR property in yucca valley. The town of yucca valley decided to update their ordinates and STR permit process starting June 1st. Applicants now need to have "certification of short term rental insurance" upon application. Has anyone dealt with this before that can lend some advice? I have called Farmers who which i have my homeowners insurance with but they do not offer this type of insurance. Not sure why we would need an additional policy on top of my homeowners insurance. Any leads on insurance companies and or work arounds would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

I'm am going through the process right now with a property in Yucca Valley. So far my application has been bounced back twice. Making future city appointments are 2 months out. The biggest headache is not getting a uniformed answer about particulars such as hot tub, pool placements.
My advice is be very thorough in your application and call them frequently for any questions.
Good Luck!
Hi Jonathan, looks like you're from Bellflower, I spent a lot of my younger years at cruthers skatepark on the riverbed. Anyways, are you inquiring about pool / spa permits simultaneously? I have my STR permit meeting coming up soon. I just finished my permit for my above ground hot tub in yucca valley and it was very straight forward. You need to ask the city to give you a print out of your setbacks on your property, usually 15ft from the property line side to side, and 25ft front or rear. Make a simple quick plot plan that shows your project plan with a couple copies and you should be good. Your electrician should be able to handle the 240V hook up to make it to code. Hope this helps!

Has anyone here installed a above ground hot tub 220v in yucca valley? If so, how much did the permit cost you? Really considering if the costs will be worth the luxury of a hot tub at this point.
