Kim,

You being a manager, and you being a tenant, are two different things. Even if you were employed by them, you're still entitled to receiving your deposit back. I know that's how it is here in Utah. Your property manager may have used up the deposit to cover "repairs/cleaning" after your moved out, but you're entitled to see what the deposit was used for. I'm no attorney, but you may need to consult with one eventually, but if I were you, I'd start by contacting them to request a deposit disposition. Good luck Kim!

Welcome Branton! I'm new to BP as well. Good to see a local like you on here. I'm trying to stay focused on the Utah market and invest in "my backyard". I'm sure you'll find what your looking for here. There's lots of good info to soak in. Don't short change yourself, you're already investing. Maybe it's not real estate, but investing in a good education isn't a bad place to start in my opinion.
