I recently moved back to the Charlotte, NC area after 4 years of living in Chicago. I am a relatively new investor and I wanted to househack small multifamily units (2-4) in the Charlotte, NC area but have found that there really aren't that many options in or around the metro area. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on this? Should I pivot into another REI class (single family, BRRRR, etc.)? If you have had REI success in the Charlotte area, I would greatly appreciate your input!

@Stephen Keighery, @Braden Smith, @Mike Wood Thank you all for your input. That is extremely helpful as I have been trying to navigate the STR zones and it seems very complicated to make a STR work at this time.
That being said, do you guys have any insight on what type of rentals work best in New Orleans? My business partner and I are somewhat long-distance investors (I spend about a month down there a year) and would like to have a home there that would eventually paid off (preferably closer to the French quarter/CBD). @Stephen Keighery Thanks for the reply and information. Do you suggest any specific areas that I look? I know the French Quarter and the Central Business District are big spots for tourists, but are there any others that you would recommend? Also, do you think a real estate agent in the area would know more about the Airbnb laws?

Hey Everyone!
My business partner and I have recently been talking about investing in real estate and were interested in the New Orleans market. Can anyone give any insight on how AirBnBs work down there? I have been there a couple times and absolutely love the city. I know they have recently implemented stricter guidelines for short term rentals but am unsure on how exactly the rules work. If there is anyone that has experience with this and could help us that would be great!
