Yes, as mentioned above, networking is key, but in this day and age, putting up the time and effort to meet real people on the ground is definitely great but takes too long. We can do better ;-) We all have the tools to find each other for free - at our fingertips. Use them.

What are you trying to achieve more explicitly?
What level of knowledge do you have so far?
What are your expectations for a mentor and what can you offer them?
Bartering? JV Equity? Cash? Hybrid?

    @Gwen Fyfe no worries. The hard lessons are included in the game rules. For business and life. Those are the things that make you stronger and better. Just know that things will always happen.

    So prepare not for the if but for the when, as the next curve ball is already on its way. Just be as prepared as you can be.
