@Geoff S. Hey! It was nice meeting you tonight. Maybe I'll see you at the next meeting and talk some more.

Hello and welcome :) READ EVERYTHING! Read the good and the bad, you'll learn from both. Go to your local library and check all of the books out. If you don't know where to look ask a librarian, I would recommend if they have it - the finance, RE, business sections. Looks like you have access to internet as well, so if you can't go to the library (or if there is not one around) try free ebooks and online libraries. Rich Dad, Poor Dad is a start and don't stop there. One of my first books was "The Millionaire Next Door"... Check out the podcasts here too. Yeah sure, get a PT job and better yet, try starting a business. Develop a plan, set goals and be open to change. Also, surround yourself with a peer group of successful people, like here on BP, that will push your boundaries. Best of success to you, you're already miles ahead.

@Pat L. @Carson M. Both very good points in starting out with credit.

I know there are lots of threads here on BP about building and managing credit, but in both of your opinions what would you recommend to the newbie starting out when first opening credit cards with specific banks - ie. local banks vs. bigger banks (say... Wells Fargo/BOA) vs. both - when you're starting to build scores & planning your investment strategy?

@Gary Dubovick So glad to hear things are going well for you on your end! I couldn't agree with you more on starting young and working "smart" consistently. (I've been on this site for hours if not days now. Haha) What made you decide to become an agent first? Good luck on your first fixer upper and duplex buy :)

@Anthony Martin Thank you for the advice! Will do. Good luck on duty and especially on your soon to be commercial NNN property! I'm interested in the commercial aspect as well - lots of people say you can start with commercial first and others say go with the SFH/MFH first, what would you recommend?

@Barry M. 26 still counts! Ha. Yes knowledge is power, this community info to learn from. Best of luck to you in the years forward.

@Ryan Mumby Congrats on the first SFH and good luck to the second!

@Deblin McKnight Hey! Another Portlander from across the land. Have you found the time loop travel hole to Portland, Maine yet? Congrats on your first SF investment!!! Hope it works for the best!

@Bill Gulley I'll definitely read your posts! Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it! Single family - got it. On the search for a mentor as well, hope I can be as much of a help to them as they will be to me!

Will see both of you round BP!
