It's going to take some time my friend. Real estate is a get rich slow business so keep doing the signs and maybe consider some other marketing, then follow up and keep after it. Deals will come...all in good time. Good luck.

4 days? Am I reading this correctly? The signs have only been up for 4 days and you want to know why they're not working? Marketing probably takes more than 4 days in most cases. I would say that the solution is patience and persistence but I may have missed something in your post.

Welcome @Laura Moore and husband!

If you are going to make a business out of real estate then you should have a business name in my opinion. It doesn't have to be impressive, Laura and Husband Company, or whatever. You may have to register/license your business, it depends on a lot factors such as location, legal business structure, etc. Hopefully someone in your area can chime in with more input on getting a business started in your area.

There is a TON of information on this site, read the beginner's guide and the "start here" page, read forum posts, ask questions, and get involved in the discussion and you'll start to put all of the pieces together.

Good luck and have fun!

Craigslist is free, there may be other online classifieds as well. I'm getting a lot of hits on my website from craigslist ads, no deals yet but hits are better than nothing.

I like how you still show McDonalds a little love in the title of this post. Congrats on everything you've done, you're amazing.

What kind of marketing did you do, or how did you get your first deal? How did you find your buyer once you were under contract?

*Not sure why this double posted

Hello @Account Closed and welcome to BP. I am a Detroit defector, I left about 2 years ago. From what I hear things have only gotten worse in the 2 years that I've been gone so I'll have to say no on the 2 year timeline. That being said, it will turn around thanks to people like you. Those that are smart enough to stick it out and be a part of the change can potentially make a lot of money in real estate. Of course the big question is when?
