@Pei Lin Hi Pei! Welcome. Awesome to get started and have your mindset so young. I would do a house hack. Buy a 2 3 or 4 Family. Live in 1 unit and rent out the other units. Here’s my advice to you...most people in your life won’t get what you’re doing or why you’re doing it. Be kind and respectful always, but GO FOR IT. Don’t take advice from people who haven’t/aren’t doing it :)

@Nicholas Smith Hi Nicholas, great question/concern. I’ve inherited many tenants, and for the most part it works out fine. I would just make sure you have copies of their leases and send a letter/knock on their door to introduce yourself and set proper expectations going forward. Tenants love to be respected just like the rest of us. Good luck!

@Chai Jonn Be careful Chai. If it starts with a cat, sometimes it turns into a bigger dog. Just make sure your lease is clear and go over with your tenant.

@Laura Williams Hi Laura, I’m sorry you are going through this. I would hire a lawyer and go after this guy.

@Jelmer Hilhorst Go. For. It.

Don’t let anyone who isn’t in the marathon tell you differently or distract you/discourage you. Believe in yourself and make it happen!

I'd love to help any beginners in their real estate investing journey. Please ask me anything and I'll answer as accurately and honestly as possible. REI can be a lonely world because most of your family and friends aren't investing in real estate and won't understand. Feel free to use me as an outlet. Happy Investing!

Has anyone had success applying for and getting the $10,000 grant? I applied last night and was given a reference number. Has anyone gotten past this stage yet? Thank you in advance if I missed this in the thread. Any insight is GREATLY appreciated. I hope everyone is staying safe. We will get through this TOGETHER!
