@ Krystallin Baker
West 7th area is still developing like crazy! The FW area is growing steadily, specifically North FW / Alliance area growth is exploding as new businesses are attracted to the area. I live in the suburbs and am focusing on potential rental properties in the HEB, Grapevine, Keller, NRH neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are close to major freeways, and in between Dallas and Fort Worth for easy commutes. Most neighborhoods in these cities also have good home appreciation and good schools. Wish I had started the real estate investing sooner!

@ Chris Norris
Congrats as you take steps to realize your dreams of achieving long term passive income. You've outlined some great steps to help you achieve that goal. I am a newbie to BP as well and have found incredible resources to further my education in real estate investing. Gaining knowledge helps to take some of the fear out of the decision making. I also live in the DFW area, and am looking for SHF/duplex properties specifically in the HEB, Grapevine, and Keller markets. Best of luck on your journey, and I hope to see you around!

@ Dominique Taylor
Welcome to BP, fellow Dallas / Fort Worth newbie! Way to conquer your fears and jump in to real estate investing. House hacking is a smart and fiscally responsible way to get your start in real estate investing. Wish I had done it! Keep saving and looking. The right property will be out there for you.

Hi Everyone,
Glad to finally join the Bigger Pockets Community! I recently discovered Bigger Pockets at the beginning of this year, and finally decided to join the group after being inspired by some of the podcasts to dig deeper into real estate investing.
My name is Cary Ogello and I live in the suburbs of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. Back in 2014, my husband and I moved up and purchased our 2nd home. Due to the equity we had in our 1st home, we decided to keep it and turn it into a rental home which we self-manage. Fast forward to 2017, and we are so glad we made that decision. We have enjoyed incredible cash flows from the rental property, and significant market value appreciation in both homes since then. The DFW area continues to attract many businesses and population growth is projected to increase at a rapid pace over the next several years.
Given the positive experience thus far with our first single family home rental, we are now actively looking for additional single family home rental properties as well as considering multi-family duplexes. The wealth of resources on the Bigger Pockets podcasts, forums, and blogs has given us the tools needed to take this next step. The information gleaned from Bigger Pockets has also opened our eyes to the possibility of financial freedom through real estate investing. We were initially thinking much smaller and looking at rental properties as a side stream of passive income to supplement our full-time jobs in healthcare (me) and architecture (hubby).
Now our goal is to accumulate enough properties to replace one of our incomes and give us financial flexibility/freedom. We look forward to choosing how we spend our days, whether continuing to work in our fields, starting another business, traveling, etc. Our plan is to acquire another property this year, and add an additional 1-2 properties for the next 10 years. Ultimately, our goal is to own at least 25 rental properties.
I look forward to being a part of the Bigger Pockets Community and both learning from and hopefully contributing to the group!
