This question seems to come up a lot in BP and the best answer I've seen is it depends on your goals. For my team, we don't want to deal with day to day operations so having a property manager makes sense. That being the case, I bake those costs into  my property analyzer so that I can afford them and still get my desired return. We are also out of state, so it's out of the question anyways.

With your case, I'd suggest asking to see if its the right fit. You can always try out self managing and if it turns out to be too much work just toss it over to a PM. Good luck!

Hey BiggerPockets! I was curious if there is interest in creating a virtual meetup for Maine focusing on multi-family / commercial properties.  Since COVID has slowed down a bit, I see that most of the meetups around Maine have transitioned back into physical meetups. Would anyone be interested in attending a virtual meetup?

 I am an OOS investor that lives in San Diego that invests in central Maine. I invest with 2 partners and we are about to close on our first duplex next month.  We want to build a meetup that helps ease the learning curve by introducing topics each month or maybe even bi-monthly? An example of this would be going through live examples to analyze properties. We plan to make this meetup more interactive but also flexible to topics and discussions! 

If anyone has ideas on how to market this idea more, I'm all ears. If there is enough interest, I'm open to starting one next month! Thanks!

Just putting a comment in here because we are on the hunt as well.  We are about to close on a duplex in the Augusta area. We got referred to James F. Pross - Tarbell Professional Association by our finance guy. We will most likely speak to him within the next week or so, I'll let you know how it goes.
