Which podcast did you listen to? There are 45 episodes out now. I would strongly suggest listening to all of them when you get the time.

@Dev Why you have to start somewhere. By doing some reading, and learning all you can from different sources, soaking it up is a great thing to do to get your mind going. But keep in mind at some point you have to take action, get out in the field and start making offers. Watch out for the squirrel.

I have to agree with Troy set up some long term goals of where you want to be and work backwards.

What type of REI are you thinking of doing?

Being active on BP will help you immensely.

Find a local REI group of some kind or create one.

@Brie Schmidt welcome to BP. You have defiantly come to the right spot to network and get great info for your REI needs. I know their are others here from the Chicago area.

I would think being broker would give you a leg up on your business, but on the other hand having a full time job could limit you to.

@Daren H. I think your time would be better severed by having a realtor, wholesaler, and other investors help you find your properties. Talk to everybody and anybody letting them know your looking, see what kind of reaction you can get. Also, checkout your local investment clubs

But on the other hand if you have time and money it might be worth looking into, I don't know what your market is like there or how big of an area your covering.
