Experienced REI, yes.

My 2 cents.

My first tenant ever for about two yrs was murdered in my rental house along with his friend, it was quite a rude awaking for us, we got on top of things as fast we could before they could get more out of control. Long story short we rented it back out, about I think 5-6 months later, everything is fine.

You just have to be prepared to sit on it and maybe rent it out if you can't sell. The right person has to come along that doesn't mind living in the house that people have been murdered in. Have a professional cleaning crew clean up the crime scene area, contaminated rooms, just as an added piece of mind for the new owners. Be ready to answer questions from the neighbors, they might all be wondering what's going on with the house, and maybe say something's you might not like or care to hear.

I definitely would look at houses that are crime scenes for the right price. Some people really get freaked out and others not so much.

Justin Foster there are so many but here's a few to look at John Jacob Astor, Barbara Corcoran, Jerry Buss, William Nickerson and many many more.

Best are the Investors that started with next to nothing, just an average person or fell on hard times, than making a boat load in real estate.

Also, if you take a look around BP you will find a lot of very successful REI's that post and are active right here.
