Noticed a few post related to 401K and access as a line of credit for funding REI: http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/49/topics/7460...; however, I happen to also have some stock options I'd like to leverage. Concerned about minimizing the tax penalties for Capital Gains (or alt...) taxes. 

My questions is: If I sell my stock, and invest these funds directly into REI, will I be able to defer applicable stock sale taxes?
