@Austin Nicoson you could try to get a FHA loan. Low down payment so you can push that money towards fixing up the place. When you ready to move the next one. You can refi this one for with a new loan with lower interest.

@Cole Burley Houston house hack seems like a great idea. When ever you’re ready to move back to Austin. You can do a 1031 exchange to an Austin location.

@Anthony Aulds from what I understand about FHA loan you have to live in the resident too, so you can look for a multiplex. Live in one unit and rent out the other.
