@Mike Bassett Thank you! I'll look into the Turner books, they seem like another great place to start. And I agree, its inspiring to see so many of people from different places and stages in their REI journey.
If you don't mind, please reach out and tell me how your Puyallup meetup goes. I'd love to hear.

@Steve Kontos I think that's great advice! I believe my free time is my most valuable and accessible asset right now. So I want to use that to build a strong academic base which I can apply later with any opportunities I have to network or possibly even shadow.
Any book recommendations?? I am half way through a John Schaub book regarding single family housing and am learning from it. I also am working through a number of podcasts and plan on checking out some BP lists.

Hello all, my name is David Creed. I am 27 years old and I currently live and work in Seattle, Washington; I am happy to begin my REI journey here at BP! So a few things about myself and goals to start off,
I have stable mon-fri work that lends itself well to a lot of free time in the afternoons/nights and weekends, but not necessarily a high income. I want to leverage this to really start my real estate education while continuing to solidify my personal financials and network (any locals know of any REI meetups?!).
My goal seems similar to many of yours - to own rental property to provide passive income. I am still diving into the possibilities but I am specifically interested in single-family homes and small multi family units as they seem the most approachable for me in the next two years (I'm picturing a conventional mortgage, FHA loan, or VA loan and living in my first purchase); although I am excited to learn about other paths and ideas.
That's about it, thank you and I'm excited to see you around the site!
@Raeshelle C. I love seeing these threads - its always surprising how much you can have in common with someone on the other side of the country. I'm following closely as my goals and current restrictions align very nearly with yours, good luck!
