Try living in Portugal...
I have the same issue, so you can look at the Midwest region for better ratios.
Good luck

@Jorge Kuzmicic The Midwest area has good cash flow overall. I just stay away from the more problematic areas.

Never manage the thing yourself. Cross reference companies and check their track record

You have to focus on what they want and how you can help them. Not the other way around. Otherwise you pass a message of being self-centered.
Having said that, if you find a good deal that fits their criteria you should show yourself as determined in getting the deal knocked down.

Be consistent in only one platform. Talk about what you are passionate about.
Do it for about let's say 3 months straight and see if you are getting results(leads...)

Never ever ever ever ever ever pay a sub-contractor upfront. EVER!!!
And also get them under contract.
They will overcharge you and walk on you leaving the thing undone. Never met a reliable contractor nor met someone that met one as well. Nobody but you cares about your money. If they smell blood on the water because you start to show signs of dependancy on them(repeated calls and mails) beware.
Just my 2 cents.
