"Karen, let's put you in charge of selecting those who will determine who gets what for education, you set up better rules and who is worthy. You devise a better system if you're so smart..."

For one thing, I don't think Karen could be elected to fix any of these problems because the fix is so unpopular. It always amazes me how any one that has actually got off of thier hiney to see the problems with the system (as Karen has obviously has) don't become outraged. Do we want more government employees? Yes!!! Make them police the fraudulant recipiants of my tax dollars. The government does not really need to take away from me to boost the economy. I got plans to spend every dime I earn or save up.

Pretty boy was recomended by a neighbor. This neighbor used him years ago. It is anybody's guess why the wife insisted he was hired. The neighbor was even disappointed that the same sub was not on the job. I also found out the neighbor has been paid $400 for referal fees in the past. Pretty boy has been on sight maybe twice in the past month.

I liked your idea of collecting the ID of those on the job. Then I remember the hill billy wanted that info.

I haven't seen or heard from him or his Paw Pa since Sunday evening.

My current rehab is my first real experience using contractors. My wife chose one that I didn't like right away. He is too pretty and flashy. But, never the less; I have to sleep with her. So, we hired him for roof and siding and my choice to do the inside. We got quotes from both for the exterior work and pretty boy was considerably more expensive. I could spend all day telling you why my choice would have been better. But, I don't gloat and brag when I know I have lost money.
I wanted to post about what happened last Sunday evening. Pretty boy's crew has taken a solid month on a two week job. During this month I brought my choice in to start the inside. They worked circles around the first crew and cleaned up after themselves every day. Just blew them out of the water on performance. So, Pretty Boy brings in some hill billy subs to help finish the exterior job. They worked for about a week then disapperared leaving a sheet metal break and several tools on the grounds. I figured they were in jail by the way they left. After a couple of weeks, one comes back at dusk on a Sunday evening to retreive his tools. The only ones still around are the ones I took inside out of the rain a week or more after they left them. He kept saying that since I moved his stuff inside, I must know where his missing break and ladder were. We got belly to belly. But, before we came to blows, his mother called him down. Then he told me the tools were his grandfather's and "he will do what he has to". I told him that him and Paw Pa need to come back with the sherrif or They will meet my buddies Smith and Wesson. Pretty Boy's other crew has finished their part of the job. I have a punch list for the hill billy's work. He has not called, emailed, or sent word that he needs the second payment of the contract.
So, much for a flashy contractor.

Wow. Didn't know anybody on BP knew about SCCA. My liscense has long expired too. The last time I drove in a club race was in '83.
I drove a couple of times a year for the next three years after that, in what was then called "Texas Race of Champions" or TROC. It was really interesting driving a club spec Corvette amongst short track racers. I really didn't have a chance with them. Their technology was so advanced from club rules. But, I understood driving 180 MPH better than they did. And, how fast you could take a decreasing apexed negative cambered turn.
I started in '77 and drove regularly until '83. My wive's illness put an end to the desire. But...!! One of these days, I am going to have one last hurrah!!! I have traced an old "foe" down that is still at it. He has a business that rents cars out for vintage racing.
My current wife was not around in the good ole days. I don't think she would understand the lifestyle of racing. Not much different from working on a house everynight and weekend.

Try finding a contractor that specializes in "make ready" services. They will have resources that can do just about all of it.

These aholes came to our soil (embasies) prepared to burn, kill, and destroy. It is time to see how the governments handel their folks and reighn them in. Lybia is the only one that I have seen show the slightest remorse. It was not a protest in their country. You don't bring guns, mortors, and rocket launchers to a protest. Are the host countries going to bring the aholes to justice? Or just harbor them like the Taliban?

I guarantee you there will be an ashtray, coffee can or some other recepticle for the butts if they smoke outside as you asked. The accumalated butts smell worse than the smoke. I hate stinky butts.

Do you have a full time job? If so you had better budget closer to a year than 10 weeks with a DYI project of this scope. Three to 6 months if not. Take it from someone trying to reform. Do not start this business thinking you will save money DYI'ing the projects. It was easier for me to quit smoking. I am in the final stages of my first one hiring most of the work out. They didn't do the work as perfect as I would have. But, at least it is done months ahead of where I would be while trying to hold a JOB down.
