I'm just starting out - currently looking for our first property but plan on doing strictly buy & hold unless a phenomenal opportunity comes up for something else. Still not sure if we can pull this off yet as we're on the tail end of the effects of a short sale on our primary residence long ago but jump right in right? :)

Hoping within a year or two I can be doing 3-5 per year

Hey yall... new guy here, Name's Don. I hail from the south west part of Wisconsin and am actually a renter myself primarily due to circumstance. My wife and I grew up in WI but did a stint on the east coast for about 10 years while I made money in my career path. Unfortunately we were young and dumb and bought in the worst market (2006), at the worst time and ended up in a short sale back in 2011. So far the only experience with real estate was wholly unprofitable and what can only be described as a "money pit". Luckily the Obama home affordability thing did one good thing for us, which was let us out of the deal without paying gains tax on the short sale.

So here we are. Back in Wisconsin, renters. Spent the last 4 years building up a successful business and I'm looking to get my feet wet with duplexes or single family, still feeling my way around. I'm totally 100% interested in cash flow.

Goals are to supplement my income at the moment and eventually I'd like to get into working my properties and growing the rental empire full time while making gobs of cashflow (just being honest right? - why else we work for eh?)

Found biggerpockets a LOOONG time ago but never stuck until I got inspired on facebook watching a old friend from high school as he did his deals and remembered how bad I wanted to give this a go... the timing feels right, he convinced me that I've sat on this dream for far too long.

Looking forward to the journey!
