@Joe Splitrock spot on! My wife had the model 3 and we paid ~$58,000 and she now has the Y and it was $61,000. Sad part is Tesla immediately reduced the price of the Model 3 when the tax credit expired. I think most people draw conclusions based on what others drive, not just tenants.

@Kyle Falkenstein you have a ton of resources that most civilians do not have. Utilize a VA loan or relocate to Texas and use Texas Vet Loan program. There are also other programs active servicemembers and veterans can utilize. Just reach out to your VA case worker if you're in transition or HR if you're still active. Also, many lenders are understanding to military members with credit challenges.

@Matthew Grabarczyk definitely factor in costs to add separate water and electric meters. One cold weather spike could send your electric bill into the multiple thousands of dollars similar to residents during the storm in Texas. One water leak could cause you thousands of dollars that you’re in the hook to pay.

@Jayden Hamilton I use a service to appeal my property taxes. Their fee is normally contingent and based on the amount they save in taxes. Roughly a 50% fee.
