@Benjamin Kelley If your student loans are federal loans you have a lot of options if you end up in a bad situation for some unforeseen reason. A lot of those options will allow you to reduce or some times even eliminate your payments for a period of time without affecting your credit score. Having the extra cash on hand can certainly be beneficial if you have the tolerance for carrying the student loan debt while investing in a property.

@Blake Stevens I agree that Greeley is certainly a challenging area to get accurate prices from block to block. Even with living here, this area is still hard to accurately price. I would certainly be interested in getting coffee. I am always looking to make good connections in the area.

@Mark Ferguson I would be very interested in a HUD home class. I will keep an eye out for a HUD class thread started by you.

Thank you everybody for the warm welcome.

@Mark Ferguson Good to see someone from the Greeley area. I will have to check out your blog. It looks like you have some great information which I can benefit from.

@Ralph R. Thanks for the welcome. I will certainly PM you as I am always looking to meet new people in the area.

@Anson Young I grew up in the Denver metro area and still have most of my family down there. Some day I want to invest in properties in the metro area.

Hello,

My name is Erik Palmquist. I am a 25 y.o. who is interested in real estate investing. I currently live in Greeley, CO. I Started out buying my first house while in college at the University of Northern Colorado. I rented out two of the rooms to my friends, then quickly realized how much I wanted to buy another place to rent. After remodeling my house almost top to bottom, I was able to acquire a second place this spring as a rental property. I am always looking to learn something new and stumbled upon Bigger Pockets while doing so. I was excited to find the website but also a little upset at myself that it took me so long to find such a great resource!
