@Tanya F. Hi, Tanya! I am glad you took the time to mention the Green Apartment Network to me. I went and 'liked' the page on Facebook and I have a pending request to join the LinkedIn page so I can receive updates. I already follow the Rocky Mountain Institute which is a company that promotes sustainability, with a special focus on profitable innovations for energy and resource efficiency... so it seems like your organization is right up my alley! One thing I have been interested in for a while is the idea of urban farming to combine my love for biology with my passion for real estate! Hopefully I will get to see that dream through someday soon. Thanks again for the warm greeting and welcome to BP!

@Ray Neal Hi, Ray! Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. It's always nice to meet investors familiar with local market. It sounds like you have some great connections in SE Wisconsin! I'm new to the investing world but hope to establish a bit of a track record in 2014. I am planning on acquiring my real estate license and getting involved with property management so that I can bring a little something to the table when working with people like yourself who are a little more established in the game. I will certainly be in touch!

@Justin Kling Hi, Justin! I am planning on attending the BP meetup next Saturday. I always enjoy meeting new people (especially local investors). I hope to see you there!

@Ali Boone Hi, Ali! Thanks for taking the time to post to the thread. I am fortunate to live in a region with a relatively stable real estate market. That said, buy and hold seemed like a good place for me to start! I do hope to venture into other types of investments down the road but I figure I should probably learn to walk before I try to run... And thanks for noticing the quote! I find that it's the little things in life that people take for granted (like networking) that can really turn something into a success or make it a failure. Thanks again for the warm welcome!

@Todd Nordstrom Awesome! Sounds like you are really starting to hone in on a niche. I know what you mean about the property tax... I recall hearing on another investing podcast that you ought to live where you want to live but invest where the numbers make sense. Seems like sound advice to me. Best of luck to you!

@Todd Nordstrom Hi, Todd! Wow, all the way from WI to Hawaii... I can't think of a more drastic change than that! That's pretty neat that you know the area where I went to school (small world). I have often thought about living in La Crosse because the bluffs and river valley are so beautiful out there. Since we are both just starting out I'm sure we have many of the same questions.. what type of properties/investing are you thinking about getting into?

@J. Martin Thanks for the advice. I want to do my best to be an active member in the BP community. Your pointers have already helped me out tremendously as I typed these replies! I have a friend that attended Berkley and a roommate that was from Corona, CA... as a Midwesterner I am very jealous of your weather this week! Thanks again for the warm welcome!

@Dawn Anastasi Hi, Dawn! Thanks for the friendly welcome from a fellow Wisconsinite. I am eager to begin networking with seasoned real estate investors (especially in the local market) and I think that attending the BP meet up would be a great start. Thanks for the suggestion, hopefully I will see you there!

@Ramon Jenkins Hi, Jenkins! I was born and raised in Racine, WI but attended college out of state at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. It is about 30 minutes north of La Crosse, WI along the Mississippi. It is absolutely gorgeous out there in the river valley. Thanks for the warm welcome, hopefully I will get a chance to meet you at a BP meet up!
