Great question. All my big mistakes happened when I didn't have a coach that I was working with every week so I would say 100% you need one. That being said, the trick is how to find the right one. That is a conversation in and of itself because it really depends a lot on you. Let's chat.

Piggybacking off alignment...alignment with the right person for sure but also alignment with yourself which oftentimes requires someone guiding you to figure out who you are by removing all the noise in your own head that you didn't even realize you allowed in.

Great to see drummers out here. Am a drummer/percussionist myself so let's connect.
Yes paying for mentoring/coaching is worth it. The question to answer is how to get the right one to help you achieve your goals. Like anything else, pay for the right one and the rewards come but if you pay for the wrong one, you will be disappointed to some degree.
Let's connect and talk both subjects!

My best decisions were made with coaches. My worst decisions were made when I did not have coaching. My personal experience and a pattern I have seen repeated in countless others for years. 100% worth getting a coach/mentor. Every good team has coaches. The best players have coaches. Business is no different.
The question, and the tough part really is, how do you know if a coach/mentor is the best fit for you? That starts with you knowing what you are after deeply. I will tell you far too many people treat this as an intellectual question and get burned as a result through zero bad intentions on anyone's part. You have to go deep and really know what you want and why. Most people I come across think they know only to find out when we spend time together, that they rarely do beyond intellectual obvious reasons (financial freedom, more money, do what I want whenever and other common easy answers).
Look for a coach to go deep with you. In my experience, the cost of those coaches is pennies compared to the value given and time/effort and pain saved and/or avoided.

These are interesting days. The ruling has certainly gotten a lot of peoples attention. There are arguments to be made on all sides, some good, some not so good, some wide, some narrow. A lot of viewpoints which is healthy to have a good conversation.
The one positive I see in the ruling is more options and flexibility for Buyers and Sellers. In most industries, if you need representation you pay for it. Real estate Sellers paying buy side commissions has needed to change, especially with the advent of technology giving Buyers so much more information to work with.

I would say yes you need one. Having done this business with and without one, most of the big mistakes were made without one. It is one thing to learn at meetings. It is another entirely to have that one on one person helping you every step of the way. If you are not in a position to pay for one, the other option is to partner with someone more experienced than you that is willing to teach you as part of the partnership. Not having one in flipping in particular can cost you more than you would pay for a coach multiple times over very easily. Even in a strong market.
The key in either scenario is taking the appropriate action. If you pay for someone, do the work! That is critical. If you commit, go all in on doing the work.
Like any other professional team whether sport or business, every very successful person I know has coaching/mentors. Usually multiple.
