Thanks, @KiKi Wood! Are you using for outdoor monitoring? Or indoors?
We're really only interested for outdoors. If you've had that much more success with Minut, you may have just convinced me to overlook the customer service. Because my inclination is they have the superior product for outdoor monitoring based on what I've seen.

@Pablo Flores I'm going through this as well. Did you end up going with the Minut? If so, how's your experience been?
I'll be honest, I've had a poor customer experience with Minut thus far before even purchasing their product. I requested a live demo and their response was "Due to exceptional demand, we are only accepting demos for hosts with a considerable amount of properties at this time."
I've had a much better experience with NoiseAware so far. But do have some concerns about false alarms with their outdoor monitoring. That's all we're interested in. And they require an indoor monitor in order to add an outdoor monitor. Whereas, Minut offers just the outdoor monitor.
I'm doing a live demo with NoiseAware on Friday. Would love to know your thoughts since you've used them so much!
Thanks!

@Chris Seveney, I don't know how that would work? A white noise machine outside to dull out the noise? Wouldn't that just annoy all guests (loud or not) and make them want to talk over the white noise?
Thanks @Scott Mac and @Phillip Austin for your feedback.
I've seen that type of response in other threads related to this issue. But with all due respect, letting the neighbor express their frustration with the guest is a lose-lose situation. I'm left with an angry neighbor who feels like I'm not respecting them and a disturbed guest.
I'm all for communication. But a) only the reserved guest likely sees those check-in highlights (not all read the paper version in the home either) and b) I have to be realistic that our rules will not always be followed perfectly.
I'm also not overly concerned about bothering a guest at odd hours if they're being too loud late at night. In your hypothetical, either the angry neighbor or even the police would be the ones bothering them. Me sending a friendly text to the guest reminding them of our quiet hours seems the least offensive of the available options.
I appreciate everyone's input. But this question wasn't really about whether or not to install these devices. It's a relatively small cost that we'd like to try out. If it doesn't work, we can reverse course.
I was hoping to hear from those who have actually used these devices in their outdoor spaces. What company they used and what their experience was.
Thanks again all!

Hi Chris, thanks for reaching out.
We have a mountainside home where the noise really travels. We have an outdoor fire pit area and on occassion we'll have a neighbor reach out about the noise.
So I'd like to get ahead of that this summer and put in a noise meter outside. Likely under our deck. Really only concerned about our quiet hours (from 10pm to 7am). So if there's a way to customize the monitoring for certain hours that would be even better, but not necessary.
Thanks again!!

Need one for outdoors. Not worried about any of the other features. Looking at Minut and NoiseAware.
Has anyone used either? What have your experiences been?
thanks!!
Post: Financial Planner w/ Real Estate Investment Focus

Hello all, I just joined Bigger Pockets. Been listening to the podcasts for about a year after my wife and I purchased our first STR in Maine in October 2020 and have (thankfully) enjoyed incredible success. We have been hunting for the second property. Finished as backup offer on 3 properties and had another fall out of closing because of a really bad appraiser and a seller who refused to budge off their number.
Despite the setbacks our interest/passion for real estate investment has only grown. As we continue to property hunt we're taking a step back and looking at this investment strategy from a broader perspective. Which brings me to today's post.
We currently have a financial planner. And have spoken with him about our plans to focus our investment strategy around real estate (likely a STR focus initially with plan to expand thereafter). No fault of our financial planner, he just doesn't have the background and experience in this area. His response is always in some form or fashion - "you're too leveraged in real estate and should spread out to other investment areas".
It's not wrong. But it's also not what we want. We want to be leveraged in real estate.
With that in mind, have any others experienced these same sorts of conversations with their financial planner? How did you respond?
Has anyone found a financial planner with specific experience in a real estate investment focus? Have you found that to be beneficial? How did you find them?
Thanks in advance and looking forward to collaborating in the forums!!
