Jassem is spot on. One thing to keep in mind is the foundation of the structure. Is it a basement, crawl space, or SOG.  the nature of all wood is to expand and contract with the season, temp, and RH. That being said a wood floor is far superior to anything else IMHO. So putting a solid wood floor on a slap must be done very carefully and someone experienced in this area of construction. Laminate is more forgiving, it can be done as a DIY project. The steps are straightforward - many videos to help are out there. It is less expensive: so when worn, like carpet - just replace it. Another thing with laminate there are so many options out there as to the material itself. Wood, cork, bamboo - all come in various degrees of durability. Ask the experienced installers, and supply houses in your area, and they will help you to make the correct choice. All the best - it will be beautiful when finished.

Very smart move Joshua. I have met so many owners of multiple rental units in my community that do it themselves as well. But, in this area, their thinking is driven by costs. They are just too cheap to let go of that dollar, and think like you - I'm going to sit back and enjoy the fruits of my investments - not labor. Can someone tell me why people think this way?
