On the flip side, be very careful. You can not just accuse somebody without some kind of proof. (I do not see the background on this issue, so it is not clear to me if you have proof)

I would speak with a good attorney, and even talk to the police about your concerns, just so that you are getting the proper advice for your situation.

Some of the advice here could land you in trouble, even though it is meant to do the right thing.

I found my attorney from attending the local REIA meetings. He had a great reputation from the members, and that is a tough group to please!

It really does not matter how cheesy it is, it is more in how you package the cheese.

What matters most is that people remember you.

I disagree about the keeping a straight face comment, if it makes people laugh, and marketed correctly, then it will be remembered!

Kung Fu Real Estate Investments is awesome, and one that people will not forget. (There is also a Panda theme that could be taken from this too! hint...hint.....)

When people try to be all professional and corporate, it will usually be boring and fall short.

Just be creative and have fun!!!!

Most of it will come from your own instinct. There will be plenty of snake-oil salespeople there, but a lot of good folks too.

If someone is just pitching you, be polite, listen to them, learn what not to do, and then end the conversation.

If you tell a person you are not ready and are just here to learn, they will either:

A: Right you off, or continue to talk about themselves.
B: Take the time to answer your questions and really listen to you.

You want those B's!!!!!

P.S. I have heard some very good things about Rosie! It just shows that there are some great people out there, and it just takes time to find them!

it is just the TV image that the stations use after you see the snow on a blackout! I would doubt that there is any copyright attachments to it.

Yes, these groups are what they are, and they need to make money too.

As long as you stay disciplined and do not fall for any of the sales pitches, these meetings are one of the best places to rub elbows with the people in your community that are making things happen in real estate.

Like anything else, just use caution and arm yourslef with common sense. It will take time to figure out who is real, and who is fluff. I would suggest going to meetings for about 4-6 months, meet as many people as you can, and soak up as much info as possible from the surroundings!

After a few months of evaluating, you should be able to find a few folks that you can grow a relationship with. Always keep in mind that nothing in this business happens quickly!

Good Luck!

Negativity is just plain lazy!

1. Passive income is a sales pitch?

Sure it is! So is hope, greed, love, wealth, refreshment, and salvation! That does not mean these things don't exist.

2. Please name one that requires no work?

I named 3 already! It was stated clearly that Income streams usually start active (work) and flow into passive. (little to no work).

3. If you need someone to Motivate you, you are toast?

This has been hammered away at in other threads. Everybody needs motivation at one time or another. It is human nature. All the greats have a coach, wife, team, book, and/or mentor that keeps them going.

I agree MikeOh........While I am not focused on all of the negative anymore, my eyes are still wide open to what is going on around me.

We will see more than one of these market run ups, as people ride the wave of emotion and hope. There are a few things we can count on in the world, two of them are false hope and foolish greed.

I have just accepted the fact that we will be in the toilet for the next 24 months, and I would rather hang around the lid than swim in the bowl!!!
