Hi all,

I'm old to the Athens area but new to investing in the Athens area and looking to make connections at the moment- maybe seek out a little advice! My wife and I purchased our first home in June with an FHA. Unfortunately, this was before I discovered BP and the world of house hacking, or it would probably have been how I started. I have worked a 1099 since I started college, so it seems traditional financing is out. Could anyone provide any advice for getting started with little capital? Right now, my plan is for us to stay in the current home through June, then start renting out the house once we've been here a year, but is there something I can be doing in the meantime? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hey guys! Relatively new here as well- I'm in the Athens area. Welcome to BP! What I have done so far to network is reach out to people on BP in and around my area and find people on LinkedIn. These people have put me in touch with a local REIA- actually had my first meeting yesterday, though it was virtual! I have already connected with many more people than I expected to and have been welcomed with open arms. One thing about this community that I have picked up on is that nearly everyone is ready and willing to help! Good luck with everything and happy to connect!

Hi all! I am also new to real estate investing and am in the education phase- based out of the Athens area. I did, however, choose to enter the industry as an agent to speed up the process. Following this thread!

Thank you @Tracy Cummins! I wish I had skipped the clock punching altogether- though it was very useful in showing me exactly what I don't want to do. Love Charlotte by the way! I've tried not so subtly to nudge my wife that way lol. Best of luck to you!

Hi All,

I just wanted to finally take the time to introduce myself. I discovered BP nearly a month ago and have found myself consumed with trying to soak up as much information as possible. I graduated from UGA last August with a degree in finance and was interested in pursuing the corporate world for quite some time. However, I maintained throughout my time in college that I wanted to some day fix & flip, as well as own rental property in order to create generational wealth. After stumbling around for quite some time in the current job market, it dawned on me that I had no passion for punching a clock the rest of my life and decided to pursue real estate as a career full time. I have recently attained my real estate license, begun attending BP webinars, & have read many of the books suggested on the forums (though I find more every day & am open to suggestions). It is my hope that through BP I can find and become a positive contributor to a community of like-minded individuals.
