Thanks guys for the feedback. We Checked with the seller and looks like they are hard set on covering only half the costs as they don’t see it as big of a problem as we do. 

So then the question becomes, from the looks of it, does it seem that bad to cost about 7500–10k and is this something that we can kick the can to down the line. How common is this in the houses built around 1960s.

I am currently facing an issue with a property that I’ve recently put under contract and I’m in need of your expert advice.

Upon conducting a snake sewer line inspection, we discovered a water blockage in the pipeline. The estimates to rectify this issue are ranging between $7,500 to $9,000. Due to this unforeseen expense, we’re considering different ways to handle the situation.

One suggestion was to purchase a sewer line insurance. The idea here is to get the insurance company to cover the repair costs at a later stage, thus helping us avoid a large upfront payment. However, we’re uncertain if this is the most efficient way to address the issue.

In your opinion, what would be the best course of action? Should we proceed with the immediate repair before putting in a tenant, or could we rely on an insurance policy to manage these repairs down the line?
