Great post, and very true. I think many people move towards guru's and 'absorbing information' because it makes them feel like they are move closer to their goal. Studies show that many people feel the dopamine rush and satisfaction of feeling like they accomplished something when they listen to a podcast. So people will listen to 100 podcasts and read a 100 books to learn pretty much the same thing over and over again with a slightly different hook.

Best thing, get started, meet individuals doing what you want to do. And either take down a smaller deal to get some real life experience or partner with someone experienced and learn through the life of the deal.

Unfortunately won’t be able to make it. Realizing meetup location is in LIC and not within Manhattan.
