Might be SuperFast...?

This guy is an idiot....Here is reality - "Once the job is done correctly and to the Contract Specs, it is done. Until then, you are not getting paid and may very well get sued"

 Thanks Bruce!

Uh oh....You paid him 2/3 up front?

 no.....$20,000 upfront...$20,0000 middle....he is wanting final $10,000.

A $50k flooring job using vinyl? How many SF is this, 10,000?

Sorry.....not for flooring but for total remodeling.  Kitchens, bathrooms.

What? So you're only disputing the flooring? Or the whole job?

Not the whole job. The flooring, trim, and paint.  Also, a new toilet and sink are leaking. He said, " once the job is done it is done".  Do you recognize this flooring?

Curious, what flooring did the contractor use? @Jeff Ryers

I'm having a hard time finding out the brand.  It doesn't say on the box.  Home Depot has never heard of it.  Another contractor didn't know the brand either.  This is all that is on the box.  Do any contractors that have replied know?

At any rate, if he didn't use the product that you specified in the contract, then he's SOL.

The question will be why did you pay the second $20k?

We didn't find out about the flooring until the final walkthrough.

You should not pay him another dime - for anything.

Does he have a Contractor's License? Worker's Comp/Bond/ Liability Insurance? Did you verify these?

How much is the balance of the contract?

Yes,Yes,and yes.  $10,000

So if he is licensed, you can call your state Contrs. Lic Board and file a complaint. You can also eventually file a complaint against his Bond and get up to $15,000.

How much did you pay him up front?

$20,000

Quote from @Eliott Elias:

Do not have him do any more work to the home. I would bring the attorneys in if you have good grounds for your case. Does the contract state the type of flooring that should be used?

 yes.....Lifeproof.

Lifeproof flooring was to be installed per the bid.  He installed a cheaper unknown brand throughout our duplex. Many other issues as well like the trim in the photo attached. Our attorney has been contacted. Should I have him pay for the cost of removing all the flooring and installation of the proper flooring?  A new contractor will be used.
