Hey @Winston Parks...It's still there...no bites on it that I know of because of the area. I had been trying to see if there any legal issues but I haven't had a chance to research it...

Welcome @Hannibal Buress!!!
@Jerry Tuzil makes a great point. If you are not familiar with the area, it is best to have a guide that knows the area well. I was born and raised on the south side and many investors miss opportunities because they are unfamiliar with the area and it is difficult to determine the opportunity as sometimes it can be block by block. There are two rehabbers that I know that are making a killing buying up houses in different areas on the south side so there is money to be made...a lot of...just have to know where to look..

Welcome @Chris Prosecky
Hey @Brandon Clark...unfortunately it didn't. My private lender backed out at the last minute and that was my only source of funding. I haven't given up on it as the property is still there, just working on getting the funding back...

I just got the same info from Jane Garvey at CCIA. I think it should be left up the owner or HOA to decide, not the local or federal government. Just like with employment, the one doing the background check should be the one deciding if what they find is a reason to bar someone from obtaining an apartment or not. You as the owner should be the one to determine what you are or are not comfortable with. In my opinion, a committed crime or being accused of one is not a protected class as the others are in fair housing laws and everyone should be given a fair chance and no one should be discriminated against because of their past but an owner should have full disclosure of who they are dealing with and be able to make an informed decision.
