Thanks for the very sensible advice everybody, I got on thumbtack and got a couple more quotes. They were all literally HALF what the first guy wanted. I feel like such a nubie. Glad you guys were there to steer me in the right direction. Thanks!

In NC, what's the typical sq. ft. price you pay for painting int. and ext.? I have a 1 story 1600 sf house outside of Charlotte that needs to be totally repainted inside and out. Half of the exterior is brick, which doesn't need painting. I've got a quote for $8000, does that sound reasonable? Thanks!

Thanks everybody, that is a big help. It just didn't seem that complicated to me, so I'm glad to hear I wasn't off. We're going to have to cut into the glue-down wood floors, but we're going to run the cut in line with the way the floor is laid, so we'll only need to replace a couple of boards and be done. BP community, you're the best!

Hi All, I have a property that is slab on grade and I want to create an island in the kitchen, but I need to get the electrical over to it (about 4' away.) It seems like the simplest way to do this is to cut a small section out of the concrete to run the wiring. My contractor (who I'm not sure about at this point for other reasons) keeps insisting that cutting the concrete is way too expensive. The house is worth about $185,000 ARV and it needs about 25k in renovations. Would you cut the concrete and how much would you expect to pay? Thanks!

I've gotten 3 quotes for a new 3.5 ton HVAC system to replace my old one. One quote was $7400, one was $6500, and one was $3800. Clearly $3800 sounds like the best deal, but is this too low to be legit?
Thanks!

I'm an interior designer (as well as a real estate investor) and I have a small kitchen/bath renovation I am doing for a client in Clayton NC. I am looking for contractors to bid on it. If you can recommend anyone in the Raleigh/Durham/Garner area please let me know, or if you are a contractor and you're interested please let me know that. The job is ready to start ASAP.
Thanks!
