@Roger Lin I have looked at the FB page a couple of times for your next event in Fairfax but do not see anything. Is there one on the schedule for this month?

@Justin Pierce When is your next meeting in Northern VA? I went to the FB page and it did not show any events coming up. Thanks

I also live in Bristow and am getting started. Have you attended any meetings in the area? What have you found to be the most beneficial ones. I did see the Traction one in Tysons. Have you attended that one? I also saw a more local one meeting in Dominion Valley. I have very limited time at night and want to make it most useful. Please let me know any thoughts you would care to share. I look forward to meeting you some time soon as well. Thanks.

Post: Mention feature

I am using Chrome and can never seem to get the mention tool to work. I go to this post a reply box and hit @ and then start typing a users name (that I get when I hover over the persons name) and nothing happens even when I get all the way to the end. I have hit @ and also @ (space) and still nothing. Like the person above me in this post is Susan M. and when I hover over her name, it shows a user name of cork2win. But when I type @cork2win, nothing happens. Seems like this should be easy but I am missing something here. Please advise. Thaks.

My question is kind of an odd one but maybe someone can give me their thoughts. Do you accept every colleague request that you get or do you kind of vet these people first? I do not have that many yet but have a couple sitting out there. Not sure what other people do. Thanks.

Thanks for the thoughts. I am assuming that would be more on the rental side or do you think that would also be the best case for flips? Seems like flipping would work good in NOVA (as long as you don't overpay-of course) because the properties would probably move faster. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks for all the replies. I am not sure how to reply to an individual replies.
Ali Boone-I agree with you. Thanks. I will take the rental situation slow as I do not know if there is cash flow there.
Larry Fried-I have read the UBG and it is a great start. Thanks.

Hello all. I am starting down the path of real estate investing here in the Northern Virginia area. I am trying to just get as much information from BP that I can. I upgraded to PRO because I thought it was a small price to pay for all the information that BP has been able to offer.
I was in the mortgage business for about 10 years before the crash so I have a little bit of insight but so many things have changed.
I am basically looking to set myself up for retirement. I am not sure which avenue to take yet. It seems in my basic research, so far, that buying rental properties in my area may not work as the housing prices are so high. I may start looking for houses to flip and then maybe I can wholesale a deal or 2 along the way to give me some seed money.
I am not sure what else I was supposed to include in this introduction. I hope it is not too long. Thanks to all the people who have gone before and are lending their knowledge through blog entries, podcasts, and in other ways.

Dan, I also live in Prince William County and am just getting started. Can you tell me the details of the meeting you attended? I am interested as much as I can and probably need to start attending some REI meetings. Thanks.
