I mean your not going to pay for any collage for sure. And being self employed geesh insurance for the whole family has to be a pretty good amount. Food clothing etc.. No to mention having fun other than going to play at a park that is free.
You mention Shooting I do that with one of my kids we go at least 3 sat a month and that cost me 750.00 a month just for ammo.. forget the 10k or so I spend on the guns we like to shoot and the Clay thrower with the Wobbler attachment LOL.   My Banker and I are going fishing on a private ranch here in a few hours.. thats 3600.00 for 3 days fully guided all meals and lodging so even splitting it 1800.00 each.. and this is just one activity in a lifetime of activities..

To me though to be Truly retired and free you need enough CASH in either CD's or T bills that will throw off enough monthy return minus income taxs  or double tax free munis.. Plus SSI payment.. AND ZERO debt on anything and always pay cash.. once there then I think you are truly free with zero risk.

When we were smaller we had good luck with Big Lots sheets and towels.  Now we use hotel suppliers - which you can purchase from.  It is bought by the case but they are commercial grade and designed for what we do.
