Post: Checking credentials of a Lender

Hi! I found the PERFECT real estate agent and am now in the process of vetting a lender.   I am having difficulty finding this person's company on the BBB, but that may be a glitch.  What are some other ways to vet his company before providing my financial information to them?

Thank you for the great feedback, Drew.  I completely agree that doing my homework, educating myself and asking the right questions is extremely important in selecting the right PMC, and I am thankful for the information that you provided.

I also believe that this forum was designed for people to share their personal experiences with others, which is why I posed the question above.

I DO appreciate all of the insight that you shared above, especially the series on "How to Screen a PMC Better than a Tenant."  I'm currently collecting and reading books from the Bigger Pockets website.

I'm definitely not looking for the quick-easy-cheap but would love a more rounded perspective to the numbers-research approach.

Please feel free to suggest any other resource that you think will come in handy.

Thank you kindly!

Kris

Happy New Year!

I'm months away on a path to purchasing a condo in Maui, saving up for the down and paying down debt.  While I do this, I am also looking for a reliable, well connected Property Management team that will have my best interest at heart.  Is there anyone out there that currently invests in Maui that can suggest a good team?  I'm also open to hearing of ones that I should not pursue.

Thank you

Kris

HI Chris,

I'm so excited to read your response, since this is exactly what I am looking for.  I'm not looking for something to cash flow off of immediately (although that would be a bonus), but I'm looking to invest in markets with strong demand, strong potential growth.  I love my W2 and do not plan to retire soon as it yields a good salary.  I would love to build my investment portfolio to 5-7 properties within the next 10 years.  My first purchase will be in April of 2023 in Maui.  I would love to make the next purchase by 2025 or sooner.  I would love to continue this chat with you if you are available.  I am very curious to know more about the potential in Boise as well as Denver.

Thank you!

Kris

Go to NETWORK at the top of your screen and you can search for other investors and investment groups in your area. You can also check meetup.com or search facebook for real estate investment groups, clubs, or meetings in your area.

If you don't find a meetup, start your own!

Thank you, Nathan!

Hi everyone,

I'm months away from purchasing my first property, and am already planning the purchase of my second, third, fourth ...

I'm looking for a local meet up where I can begin networking with like-minded investors.  While the podcasts, books and forums are a great resource, I am mostly motivated by individual or group networking.

Thanks!

Kris

Check the forums for local meetups. There are several that I know occur in Los Angeles on a monthly basis.

Thank you, Robert!

Thank you River!

Hi Kristin - exciting that you are close to your first property! Definitely check out meetup.com. You can filter by location and type of meetup. I have been to a lot through that website and also hosted events through it. Would be happy to help!

Thank you River!
