I'm sorry to hear that, but hopefully it's for the best!
If it sounds too good to be true, it almost always is.

thanks for sharing the house hacking experience. I never try it before, so another new option to learn.

Hey @Leo Li
Glad you joined us here! Sharing your story takes guts, and it's the first step toward bouncing back. I remember when my buddy Mike went through a rough patch..divorce, bad investments, you name it. He felt like he was starting from scratch, too. But that fresh start was excatly what he needed to rethink his approach.
Have you considered looking into markets outside of San Francisco? When Mike was rebuilding, he explored opportunities in Austin and Scottsdale. With lower entry costs and solid growth potential, he was able to snag a couple of properties that started generating positive cash flow pretty quickly.
Sometimes a new environment brings new opportunities. If you're interested, I'd be happy to share some of the strategies that worked for Mike and other clients who've successfully rebuilt their portfolios. Maybe over a virtual coffe?
Keep your head up, Leo. Every setback is just a setup for a comeback.

Turning investment visions into reality in Phoenix, AZ - Ranked #1 for residential real estate growth and opportunity by PwC
Thanks for the encouragement. As much as how stressful and painful going thru this, I am trying to be positive and take this as an opportunity to get a fresh new start.
Interestingly, this time I am looking to buy investment properties outside of California. With how things go here with all the new laws that favor more on tenants and also the high property tax, it’s hard to find a good property that can generate cash flow. That’s why I am here to learn from other since I don’t know much about real estate market in another area.
Hi everyone. Excited to be here to learn how to invest in real estate properly. I used to own a condo as a rental and a single family house as primary. But my rental is not generating any cash flow in fact I have to pay for tax and HOA out of my own pocket.
Reason why I said time for reset and try again is because I am going thru divorce and the condo will go to my ex. As for the single family house I have no choice but to sell it since I am stupid enough to fell for a pig butchering scam. I lost pretty much all my savings and stocks from the scam. Long story short, so now I will be back to square one where I will be renting without owning any properties. Hoping to have some money left to rebuild my portfolio after selling the house and paying off the debt and loan.
So I am here humbly and eagerly to learn the proper way to rebuild and want to avoid as little mistake as possible. 😁
