Wow @Joel Florek. That is impressive. I'm sure you'll make your goal of 150 units by 26. Keep it up!

Hey BP Family, Does getting pre-approved for a loan hurt your credit score? What if you don't get approved with the bank and try again with another bank? How many times should you do this before you decide on other financing options?

Kyle Brodwater The mortgage fraud, you mentioned in the earlier post, I'm probably about to sound super new, but that could happen with any loan that requires you to be own occupant and you rent it to someone else instead? I just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly.

Kyle Brodwater So if I were to do the duplex bit, how long would I have to "live in my primary residence" before I could have an actual tenant move in? And what kind of waivers are available or where could I find further information on this? Thank you for responding. This information is great.

Hey Justin. Welcome to BiggerPockets. This website is great so the fact that you're already here is a step in the right direction. The people on BP are very knowledgeable and helpful. Post your questions and concerns are you're sure to get some help/advise. As far as books go, Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki will change your mentality and motivate to get started. Investing in Real Estate with No and Low Money Down by Brandon Turner tells you about different financing options. Real Estate Property Investing by Brandon Turner, and The ABC's of Real Estate Investing by Ken McElroy also great, informative reads. Again, welcome to BP and I look forward to hearing great things from you. Lisa

Mike Cumbie No, I don't. I'm starting to see I will have to find another way to finance my investment without using my own money. I'd rather keep saving it just maintenance and emergencies.

Hey @Kyle Brodwater. I am overseas, therefore, I will not be living in the property, which is a requirement for the VA loan. I am trying to find a way around it, but things are looking pretty slim.

@Corey Blane Thank you for your response. I am currently overseas and I am looking to buy a house back in the states in either Florida, Georgia, or San Antonio. I'm active duty military and won't be back stateside for quite sometime. I'm eligible for the VA loan so I am hoping to find some kind of way to use it.

Hey BP family,

I'm trying to find out information on the VA Loan but the VA website isn't very detailed. Since I can't house hack, I want to know if there are other ways I could use the loan. Buy the house and NOT rent it out, maybe have a family member live there temporarily? When I spoke to USAA they mentioned something about being able to use the loan for a vacation home. Does anyone have an information about this? I'm trying to think creatively.
